In a bold statement that has energized Fighting Irish fans, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman heaped high praise on new wide receiver transfer Will Pauling, calling him a “game-changer” and “exactly what this offense needs.”
Freeman’s comments came during a media session following summer workouts, where Pauling, the former Cincinnati and Wisconsin standout, has reportedly been turning heads. “Will Pauling is a difference-maker,” Freeman said. “His work ethic, explosiveness, and football IQ are elite. He’s already one of the most impressive guys on this roster — and that’s saying something.”
Pauling transferred to Notre Dame this offseason after a breakout year with the Wisconsin Badgers, where he led the team in receptions and was a top option in the slot. Known for his precise route-running and ability to create separation, Pauling is expected to add immediate versatility and playmaking ability to an Irish offense that struggled with consistency in 2024.
