In a high-stakes matchup at the SEC Baseball Tournament, Ole Miss stunned Florida with a commanding performance, sealing a pivotal win and keeping their postseason hopes alive. The Rebels, led by stellar pitching and timely hitting, secured the victory and advanced further into the bracket.
Sophomore left-hander Hunter Elliott delivered a gutsy outing on the mound, showcasing poise and command throughout. Elliott scattered five hits and allowed just one earned run over six innings, setting the tone early and keeping Florida’s potent lineup in check.
Offensively, the Rebels capitalized on key opportunities, with Mason Morris and Judd Utermark playing central roles in the win. Morris delivered a crucial RBI double in the fifth inning, while Utermark launched a two-run homer in the seventh to extend the lead and silence the Gators’ dugout.
Following the game, head coach Mike Bianco praised his squad’s resilience. “We’ve been preaching fight and belief all season. Tonight, our guys showed what Ole Miss baseball is all about — grit, execution, and heart,” Bianco said.
Elliott, whose return from injury earlier this season provided a boost to the rotation, credited his teammates for the win. “The defense behind me was incredible, and the energy in the dugout never dipped. We knew what was at stake, and we responded,” he said.
