The Pittsburgh Steelers have secured safety DeShon Elliott with a two-year contract extension worth $12.5 million, including $9.21 million guaranteed. This move comes after Elliott’s standout performance in the 2024 season, where he recorded career highs in tackles (108) and fumble recoveries (three) over 15 games, 14 of which he started.
Elliott’s journey to Pittsburgh has been marked by resilience. After bouncing between the Ravens, Lions, and Dolphins, he found a home with the Steelers in 2024. Reflecting on his path, Elliott shared, “Those were the loneliest moments. But I grew in that. Like a rose out of concrete, I really grew in that.”
Head coach Mike Tomlin praised Elliott’s toughness and fit within the Steelers’ defensive scheme, highlighting his ability to complement fellow safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Elliott’s extension solidifies his role in the team’s secondary as they prepare for the upcoming season.
