Gainesville, FL – June 11, 2025 — In a heartfelt act of generosity that’s turning heads both on and off the field, Florida Gators rising star quarterback Anthony Richardson surprised his teammates Tuesday morning by gifting the team two brand-new luxury buses. The gesture, aimed at easing travel burdens and building camaraderie, left coaches and players visibly emotional.
Richardson, who recently finalized a major endorsement deal and is projected as a top NFL Draft pick, says the idea came to him during a long, cramped team bus ride last season.
“I just remember looking around and seeing the guys — tired, cramped, some sitting on coolers — and thinking, ‘Man, we work so hard. We deserve better,’” Richardson told reporters after practice. “These buses are more than transportation. They’re a thank-you to my brothers.”
The surprise unveiling happened just outside the Gators’ practice facility, where two customized, navy-and-orange motorcoaches emblazoned with the team’s logo pulled in with “For the Brotherhood” scrolling across their digital marquees. Inside, players found reclining leather seats, phone chargers, TVs, and plenty of legroom — a far cry from the team’s old transportation.
Coach Billy Napier, fighting back tears, praised Richardson not just for his performance, but his character. “This young man represents everything right about college athletics. He’s humble, he leads with heart, and today, he showed his teammates what leadership really looks like.”
Teammates echoed that sentiment. “Anthony’s always been the kind of guy who puts others first,” said senior linebacker Derek Wingo. “This… this just shows how deeply he cares.”
While it’s rare for college athletes to make such high-profile gestures, especially in an age of NIL money and media pressure, Richardson insists the gift wasn’t for publicity.
“It’s just love,” he said simply. “This team is my family. And you take care of family.”
