OXFORD, Miss. – The accolades continue for Ole Miss Softball, as the program’s coaching staff has been named the 2025 South Region Coaching Staff of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). This honor comes on the heels of one of the most memorable seasons in Rebel history.
Led by head coach Jamie Trachsel, the Rebels put together a remarkable run in 2025, breaking records, exceeding expectations, and showcasing an unwavering team spirit that captured the attention of the softball world. The staff—comprised of Trachsel, assistant coaches Katie Rietkovich Browder and Ryker Chason, and volunteer assistant Paige Smith—was instrumental in pushing the team to new heights.
Ole Miss posted a 42-17 record this season, advancing deep into postseason play and earning its place among the top programs in the nation. The Rebels’ aggressive approach on the field, matched with steady leadership off it, turned what many expected to be a rebuilding year into a historic campaign filled with grit, growth, and wins.
Coach Trachsel, in her fourth season at the helm, emphasized the team’s unity and resilience throughout the year. “This recognition is a testament to the commitment and trust within our program,” she said. “Our players bought in, our staff gave their all every day, and together we accomplished something truly special.”
The South Region Coaching Staff of the Year award is voted on by fellow coaches and peers, making it an especially meaningful honor for the Rebels. It reflects not only the team’s success on the field but also the respect the staff has earned throughout the softball community.
