BREAKING NEWS: Netflix released date for its highly anticipated documentary, One for the Ages: The Ed Orgeron Story, a deep dive into the tenure of one of the most beloved coaches in Louisiana State University (LSU) football history, Ed Orgeron…

Netflix has officially announced the release date for its much-anticipated sports documentary, One for the Ages: The Ed Orgeron Story, slated to premiere on August 22, 2025. The documentary takes an emotional and hard-hitting look at the life, rise, and unforgettable tenure of Ed Orgeron, the gravel-voiced, deeply passionate head coach who led the LSU Tigers to one of the most dominant seasons in college football history.

Known affectionately as “Coach O,” Orgeron became a Louisiana icon during his time at LSU, especially during the Tigers’ legendary 2019 season when the team, led by quarterback Joe Burrow, went 15-0 and captured the national title in historic fashion. Netflix promises to go beyond the highlight reels, delivering an unfiltered look at Orgeron’s upbringing in Lafourche Parish, his early struggles in coaching, personal battles, and the eventual climb to national glory.

The documentary features never-before-seen locker room footage, behind-the-scenes access from the 2019 championship run, and interviews with some of college football’s biggest names — including Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Nick Saban, and even Orgeron himself.

“Ed Orgeron is more than a football coach — he’s a symbol of resilience, grit, and Louisiana pride,” says Netflix executive producer Lisa Garza. “This film isn’t just about football. It’s about heart, second chances, and what it means to find redemption on your own turf.”

Fans will also get a closer look at Orgeron’s sudden departure from LSU just two years after winning it all — a complex chapter filled with emotional nuance and leadership lessons.

From Cajun country to national spotlight, One for the Ages promises to be a powerful tribute to a coach who never gave up on his dream — and never let his team forget who they were fighting for.

LSU fans, football lovers, and documentary enthusiasts alike can mark their calendars. This is one story that goes far beyond the gridiron.
