Nebraska softball star Jordy Bahl has been named the Cornhuskers’ Most Valuable Player for the 2025 season, following a remarkable performance that has drawn national attention. The junior pitcher and utility player from Papillion, Nebraska, has excelled both in the circle and at the plate, earning comparisons to MLB MVP Shohei Ohtani for her elite two-way play .
Bahl’s statistics this season are nothing short of impressive. She ranks fifth nationally in batting average (.475), tied for seventh in home runs (23), sixth in ERA (1.50), and tied for fifth in wins (26). Additionally, she is sixth in OPS (1.576), fourth in runs scored (71), and second in hits allowed per seven innings (3.72), making her the only player in the country ranked top ten in all four categories .
Her standout performances include a no-hitter against Northern Colorado at the Troy Cox Classic, where she did not allow a ball out of the infield. She also pitched a complete game against Tennessee in the Super Regionals, allowing just two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts, while contributing offensively with a hit, walk, and two runs in Nebraska’s 5-2 win .
Bahl’s exceptional season has earned her the Big Ten Player and Pitcher of the Year honors, and she is a finalist for USA Softball’s National Player of the Year award. Her performance has revitalized hopes for Nebraska’s return to the Women’s College World Series .
