In the aftermath of Purdue’s narrow 62–60 loss to Houston in the Sweet 16 of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, head coach Matt Painter has confirmed that the team will be active in the transfer portal this offseason

Painter acknowledged the challenges of retaining players in the current college basketball landscape, stating, “If you have 13 guys on scholarship and to keep everyone happy, that’s hard.” He also emphasized the need for more physicality on the team, suggesting that incoming transfers may help address this area.
The departures and potential additions mark a significant shift for Purdue, a program that has traditionally relied on high school recruiting and player development. As the Boilermakers look to rebuild and strengthen their roster, the offseason moves will be crucial in shaping the team’s future competitiveness.
