CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Reds outfielder Will Benson has been named the National League Player of the Week following a standout series of performances that showcased his power, consistency, and all-around impact on the field.
Benson, 26, delivered a torrid stretch at the plate, batting .458 (11-for-24) with three home runs, nine RBIs, and a 1.417 OPS across six games. His offensive outburst played a pivotal role in the Reds’ recent surge, helping the team to a 5-1 record during the award week. His highlight moment came during a thrilling extra-inning win against the Cubs, where he launched a walk-off home run to cap off a three-hit, four-RBI performance.
Known for his blend of speed and power, Benson also contributed defensively with a pair of spectacular catches in right field and added three stolen bases. His all-around contributions further solidify his value as one of the Reds’ key young stars in a lineup brimming with emerging talent.
This marks Benson’s first career Player of the Week honor and is a testament to his hard work and development since arriving in Cincinnati. Drafted 14th overall by the Cleveland Guardians in 2016, Benson joined the Reds via trade in 2023 and has since blossomed into a dynamic everyday player.
