Florida State University is making serious waves in the college football world this offseason, with growing speculation that the Seminoles are closing in on two of the most highly coveted names in the transfer portal:

EDGE rusher Jimari Butler from Nebraska and dynamic wide receiver KC Concepcion from NC State. With head coach Mike Norvell entering a pivotal year in his tenure, landing these two playmakers could be a game-changer—not just for the roster, but for the program’s national standing.

 

Butler, a 6’5″, 260-pound edge rusher, has steadily developed into a disruptive force off the edge. Over three seasons at Nebraska, he tallied 65 tackles and 7.5 sacks, showcasing explosive athleticism and a nose for the quarterback. Florida State’s defensive staff is very familiar with Butler, having recruited and coached him during their time at Nebraska. His ability to stretch the field, create separation, and deliver after the catch makes him a potential game-breaker in Norvell’s offensive system. FSU has been among his top six schools, competing with heavyweight programs like Alabama and Texas A&M, but recent momentum appears to be swinging toward Tallahassee.

 

Should Florida State land both Butler and Concepcion, it could mark a definitive turning point for the Seminoles’ resurgence. Mike Norvell has already brought FSU back into national relevance with an ACC title and a perfect regular season in 2023.
